Brand of the Month: Designers Guild

30.06.2020

Here at Richard Grafton Interiors, we are a proud Designers Guild fabric, wallpaper and paint stockist. Founded in 1970 by Tricia Guild, their collections are available all over the world and right from the start they were recognised by professionals and press as having high quality designs and products.

Our ‘brand of the month’ post gives you an insight into the Designers Guild brand. It is a brand that we at RGI use time and time again in our projects. Classic & timeless with a strong use of colour; there is something about the creativity of Designers Guild, offering an artist’s approach to innovative fabrics and so much more.

What is the history of the brand?

Designers Guild began in its first showroom on the Kings Road in London and has expanded, with 9,000 fabrics and 2,000 wallpapers now in the collection in a multitude of patterns and finishes. From 1970 to 2020, the brand has developed but the creative process and people values have remained the same and at the heart of the company. In 2008, Designers Guild launched their Royal Collection, inspired by the Royal residences of Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace – a pivotal point in the history of licensing agreements. Designers Guild has also acquired partnerships with Ralph Lauren Fabrics and wall coverings as well as the recent collaboration in 2018 with artist John Derian.

How our designers help you on your journey

You can pop into our showrooms and book a consultation with one of our designers. If you already have a style in mind then we encourage you to bring all your ideas, photographs and inspiration to this meeting. Our designers can then get a feel for your interior aspirations and work with you to create a beautiful scheme. We stock Designers Guild fabrics and wallpapers as well as William Yeoward who designs fabrics for Designers Guild. Planning a scheme or moodboard doesn’t have to be difficult, with our designers knowledge of trends, colour and pattern there will always be something to suit your taste and preferences and they can take the pressure off you.

Project

Here is a project which uses Designers Guild fabric from their ‘Issoria – Zinc’ collection in a bright, colourful hallway on the armchair and blind. Our designers were able to bring out colour and print in this project, as the clients were not afraid to go bold and big. Available in a few colours, this collection prints on a wonderful smooth cotton velvet which makes it perfect for upholstery or curtains.
